Love is in the air this month, and that is no exception for us at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage! To get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we want to take you on a journey through the love story of Andrew Jackson and Rachel Donelson Robards, which was full of passion (and some controversy!). Despite their tendency to spend time together quietly at home, relaxing in the garden and enjoying family, their marriage sparked mystery and would be a source of debate throughout Jackson’s political career.
The 2020 Bridesmaid
You’ve received that oh-so-sweet ask from your favorite bride. You’re in. You’re a bridesmaid! So, now what? Surely getting gussied up and standing next to the bride during the wedding is an easy task, right? Well, we’re here to talk about how being a bridesmaid in 2020 isn’t as simple as all that, but it IS just as fun!

Early visitors to The Hermitage, as well as Andrew Jackson’s letters, note Rachel’s fondness and special interest for the garden. This one-acre garden adjacent to The Hermitage was designed in the 19th century and served as a favorite spot for both Andrew and Rachel Jackson. Today, its beauty has only continued to blossom as it hosts many wedding ceremonies and receptions throughout the season.

Featured Wedding : Courtney + Joe
This dreary January day has us dreaming back to June, when Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage hosted the gorgeous wedding of Courtney & Joe. These colorful summer florals brightened up our Cabin by the Spring and were one of our favorite centerpieces of the year! Including fresh cut citrus fruit and eucalyptus, this creative addition made us want to plan a summer soiree of our own.
